MINI MOULD RANGE LAUNCHED

Wealden announces the launch of a completely new system - MINI MOULD - which allows the use of a router and table as a miniature spindle moulder.

Wealden Mini Mould Cutter System

An initial range of 11 different cutter heads is available, which can be used with or without bearings and many profiles may be produced using the cutters singly or in combination.  Arbors are available in various lengths and in 8mm, 3/8" and 1/2" shank sizes. A range of guide bearings also makes the Mini Mould system suitable for curved work.
With the longest arbors in a table, mouldings may to be run in the middle of boards up to 150mm wide or with an optional arbor and bearing, the cutter heads may be used for freehand routing.

Festool have introduced a new 1/2in 1400W router, the OF 1400 EBQ. It features several unique Festool touches: plug-in power cable, electronic braking, ratchet spindle lock, one-knob side fence tightening and the same style handle and trigger and lock switch as the smaller OF 1010 EBQ.

A review of the new router will appear here shortly.

NEW 8mm EXTENSION
New Trend 8mm extension
Extensions for 1/2in collets have been with us for a few years but Trend have now introduced one on an 8mm shank. The body of the extension takes a 1/4in collet as standard but an 8mm one is available as an accessory.

The extension is intended for table or fixed head work only and should be used at a maximum speed of  18,000 rpm with maximum cutter diameter of 35mm. We have this available now from stock, see the Accessories section of the online catalogue

ELECTRONIC EAR DEFENDERS
Electronic Ear Defenders
New to the woodworking market are two relatively inexpensive brands of electronic ear defenders. When noise levels exceeds 85db they automatically cut out. As the sound drops to 85db or less normal hearing is restored.

The picture shows one set from Draper (blue) and one from Axminster (yellow).
