Router anti-tilt plate

One of the best ways to prevent tilting when hand routing the edge of a panel is to fit a base extension made of MDF, plywood or perspex to your router. The extension is made using the base pattern produced in tip 8, to position the fixing hole and get the shape right. Small and medium routers lend themselves well to this method; big heavy routers are less suitable. For these, a larger base extension fitted with two handles works best.
